WHO IS BEHIND VAYA PRODUCTS?
Hey, how's it going? 👋 I'm Anita, and I rock the Vaya Products team. My home and playground are in the beautiful Grisons, more precisely in Laax. I have been successfully blazing my paths as a room and product designer for a whole decade.
Vaya Products is my baby, my brand for innovative and sustainable bus accessories. I've always been an adventurer who loves a challenge. I used to jump headfirst out of airplanes, today I climb the ups and downs of the mountains on my bike or dive into deep powder snow. For me, happiness means spending the night outside freely and independently, experiencing the sunset and waking up to the sunrise. Preferably in a hammock, who needs a van 😉🚐
My professional sweet spot is, of course, in the workshop, but as a designer, I unfortunately get to enjoy an office chair far too often 🙈. I love camping, and as it is as a designer, you never find exactly what you're looking for, so you either have to invent it yourself or design it.
The journey began in Central America during an epic 52-week hiatus with adventurer Lars. Vaya Products ' first product was the Soap Case – an ingenious, reusable travel soap box. You can't imagine how practical this thing is!
On the way with our backpacks and hammocks , we quickly realized that the rusty Rico can in the bathroom was no longer enough. You probably know this, not every bathroom is "wia dihai". We rejoiced in every nail that protruded from the wall and served as an improvised suspension.
The first encounter with a "Büssli" took place in Panama. There we bought the worn-out Mitsubishi L300, a white delivery van, which we dismantled on site. After this trip and the experience with the L300, we knew more Spanish words for car parts than we would have liked. That's why we opted for the VW T6 - real German workmanship.
This led to the development of our product range for the VW bus. Since there was no double rear extension on the market and no kitchen that met my requirements, I developed the board kitchen and the cargo slider with great passion.
The most important features? Simple: open the tailgate, pull out the kitchen and start cooking. Practical and compact was our goal. The preparation at an ideal cooking height, protected and short hand movements - this is how a well thought-out piece of furniture made of natural materials, manufactured and designed in Switzerland 🇨🇭, was created.
Thanks to a lot of positive feedback, we were motivated, and so the first small series was produced. Being Swissmade wasn't easy, but after my self-made prototype by hand and two more prototypes, a mature product was created that is a joy to use. In the meantime, based on my own statistics 😉, as of today, at least 4948 great meals are conjured up all over Europe on the Vaya Boardkitchen . En Guete!
It is important that our products are durable, local, fair and sustainably produced. Our partners and trading products must meet the same high standards. It makes me mega happy to see that the people who use our products become true fans.
What's next? What's next? For a few months now, there has been a yellow hippie VW, a post-caddy in the Vaya Family. It is currently in the first prototype phase and will of course be equipped with a new kitchen and a pull-out. It's amazing how much fits into a caddy! Testing means camping, and that's always fun. 🤙
One thing leads to another, that's life. I am very happy to be part of the Büssli shop and to present our products . We are also represented at the Campingdays, the most sympathetic camping fair, in the brilliant surroundings of the Lucerne Museum of Transport.
