Release of FÜRIG Premium 1.0
I've had the urge for adventure and nature since I was little. As a young boy, I was able to fully live out my passion in scouting and give free rein to my creativity. Even then, technology and fire were the focus of attention: be it making ovens, lighting a mighty campfire or baking stick bread over the flames. 🔥
I was inspired to travel by my mother, who kept telling me about her multi-year and very unusual travels. It soon became clear to me that I wanted to do something similar. Without further ado, my college and I bought a discarded fire engine from 1990. I would never have thought what we would experience with this car: Within 12 months we traveled to every country on the North American continent – the chaos always traveled with us, we barbecued almost every evening and my inner penitential life was ignited! 😍
A grill that can do it all – is that possible?
Today I am more organized in my VW California Beach T6. It's not as individual as it used to be, but the order saves time and nerves that you prefer to spend outside or at the door!
The fact that a barbecue is part of the basic equipment has not changed. Unfortunately, the idea I had of the perfect grill was more of an ideal than a reality. My conclusion: Too big, too heavy, too unwieldy and dirty... and after tanning out of the mold several times. In addition, almost no grill is suitable as a fire bowl. And let's be honest - what could be better than ending the day in the evening after a wonderful day in nature with a glass of wine by a cozy fire?
The concrete idea of a robust and compact solution for a barbecue was ultimately born during a campfire among friends. The solution was very "simple": We needed a grill that fits into every camper concept and leaves nothing to be desired. In order to meet these requirements, I set myself the following goals:

Striving for the perfect grill
With these goals in mind, I designed the FÜRIG 1.0 as a first step and produced it in a small series of 40 pieces. The enthusiasm in my circle of friends and beyond was so great that my camp was exhausted in no time. That's what motivated me to keep developing. So I meticulously revised the existing design and so in the new edition of the FÜRIG PREMIUM 2.0 an additional three feet and a second floor were implemented. On the one hand, this adaptation gives the FÜRIG better stability due to the wider support of the feet and, on the other hand, the substrate is subjected to much less thermal stress. In other words, where the Fürig stood, the grass is still green even after grilling.

Another highlight will be released in autumn – namely the FÜRIG Compact. The handy grill with a weight of only 3 kg has matured to perfection after many iteration steps:
The adjective "compact" is to be taken literally. Packed in a carrying bag made of robust truck tarpaulin, the packing volume is just 48 cm x 31 cm x 1 cm and thus fits into any backpack.
As you would expect from FÜRIG , functionality and quality are also the top priorities for the FÜRIG Compact.
In addition to the classic grilling on the 39 cm x 26 cm grill grate (for comparison: about the size of a 17'' laptop), it can be transformed into a spit lick in one simple step. Up to 6 skewers can then be placed in 79 different positions. This ensures that each skewer finds its ideal position above the embers.
The grill consists of 6 parts and a grate, which can be positioned above the embers in 4 stages. As with the FÜRIG 2.0, no tools are required for assembly, as the shell can be put together quickly and easily.
And what's next?
As soon as one project is implemented, the next one is already on the agenda. The best ideas often arise in a relaxed atmosphere or simply by chance. That's exactly how I got Swen from Büssli Shop. In a non-binding phone call and conversation about grill trays, Swen inspired me with his idea: A grill with top heat. For example, you could prepare raclette or other delicious dishes. The solution to this remains a secret for now, but will hopefully be revealed soon in a new newsletter.
